Prior to having kids I didn’t think this would be the case, but I’ll admit it, I can be a bit of a type A mom. I’m big on made beds, limiting screens, nutritious eating, and consistent bedtimes. In our busy every days, I focus on all the things that (I think) “need” to be accomplished. I often forget to enjoy the little moments – they are so fleeting.
This holiday break I tried to focus on exactly those moments. I played football with the boys when they asked instead of cleaning the bathrooms; I lost numerous rounds of Uno instead of vacuuming; I let them put icing on the cake even though it soon became lopsided; and then I let them lick the bowl.
These are the moments I will cherish once they’re older and no longer want my company playing football or helping to bake a cake. The moments of laughter, teasing, and fun. And let’s face it, I have boys…I will never have a clean bathroom again.
It’s hard to believe a year of documenting each month of Motherhood has come to an end. I’m so thankful for my partners in this project-they have been such an inspiration. Be sure to check out Teresa’s final Motherhood image.
